Fire Safety

People living in an apartment or condominium building need to think ahead and be prepared in the event of a fire. It is important to know the fire safety features in your building and work together with neighbors to help keep the building as fire-safe as possible.

Each unit is required by insurance to have a fire extinguisher. If you don’t have a fire extinguisher please contact management. Management can install one in your home for $15. Smoke alarm inspection and installation is available for a fee of $20 per device.

Checklist

Prevent water damage - Inspect your home for any water stains, rotting wood or peeling paint. Replace leaking faucet washers and use drain screens to help stop clogging.

Water conservation –  Please report all leaky faucets, sinks, or toilets to management, so that they can be repaired.

Check for electrical faults - Report warning signs that there might be some fault with your electricity, such as flickering lights, power outs, safety switches tripping and electrical appliances that give small shocks to maintenance immediately. Stop using any cords that become frayed or damaged, and don’t use too many cords in one socket.
